Simon Wilby, inventor of The Smart One, a device which effectively turns regular cell phones into solar powered devices, has lined up several new applications of the same ingenious technology behind The Smart One with more and more applications on the horizon.

Simon Wilby is constantly on the look out for new and exciting applications for the ultra thin, plastic solar cells that made The Smart One possible. He has already adapted the technology to be used for laptops, eliminating the chronic dependence laptop users have on chargers and wall sockets.

Not all of  Simon Wilby’s solar panel applications are for home use though. Plans are already in the works to devise a system of street lights that work using solar power. This brave innovation could potentially save governments millions in electric bills annually. Who knows? Traffic lights might be the next thing to get the green light for “green energy.”
